Don’t Set Goals For 2020


It’s That Time Again…

Hey, it’s Dr. Clifton Mays.

It’s the time of year when we get back to our routine and when we make new goals for our health and life. The first few weeks of January always bring “new adventures” and it’s a time to look forward and onward.

Yet – for many people – it becomes just another struggle.

Many people struggle with their health, they struggle with their career and they struggle with life.

We’ve all been there – heck – after 30 years of practice – I’ve seen the struggle!

As my daughter would say “Dad – the struggle is REAL!!!”

That means that this is the perfect time to get clear on what you want for 2020.

There are all types of “guru’s” out there talking about setting goals and making resolutions, but I’m going to tell you that it is WRONG to set goals for 2020.

WHAT? You mean I shouldn’t set goals for 2020?

You heard me right. Don’t set goals for 2020!!!

What I would rather you do – is PLAN ACTION in 2020!

Are you struggling with your health? What is the ONE STEP that you can take right now to better your health? Do you need to start exercising? Do you need to modify your diet? Do you need to TALK TO A DOCTOR? If so – DO IT!

What about career or finances? It’s difficult to keep up with life if you’re constantly struggling at work or with financial issues. The easiest way to get back on track is to take the FIRST STEP. It’s never comfortable, but when you take the first step, then you can keep going and ultimately – get to where you want to go.

Is there a specific thing at work that stresses you out? Address the issue. If you can remove or even “shrink” the stress – don’t you think you’d be in a better place?

If you need to take care of finances – find the biggest stress and address it. Negotiate a big bill, fix the car, call the creditor and ask them to assist you. Just that one step will help you have a better 2020.

It’s never as simple as just one thing, but if you take ONE STEP toward making your life better, it becomes easier and easier to keep taking steps towards the actions that will lead you through the struggle and into success.

My action step is talking to you.

I’ve been very lax about keeping in touch with my e-mail list and it’s been because I thought that I was bothering you by e-mails. I don’t want that to be that person, but I know that if I don’t talk to you, you will never have the chance to use my information to live better – and THAT’S UNACCEPTABLE for my 2020. I want to make sure we have at least 30 people going through our wellness programs every month. That is enough people to give you time with me and my staff as well as making sure you are able to go through the information in our online wellness program. So this email is as much for me, as it is for you.

I’ve also put more information on the Facebook page. We’ve integrated the thyroid subtype information and the gluten free lifestyle info through MESSENGER. So if you aren’t taking advantage of the Facebook page – join us!
